The family of veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest a TikTok user who circulated a false report claiming the actor had died.
The move followed widespread reactions to a viral video announcing Edochie’s purported death, which his family and management swiftly dismissed as untrue.
Edochie’s first son, Leo Edochie, addressed the rumour in a video shared on his Instagram page, describing the report as “a lie from the pit of hell” and assuring the public that his father is alive.
In a Facebook post on Thursday evening, Leo said he had formally contacted the DSS to track down the TikTok user responsible for the claim.
Sharing a photo of the individual, identified by the handle @ONE_BOR 001, Leo wrote that anyone with credible information leading to the person’s arrest would receive a cash reward.
“I have contacted DSS and they are on his trail. DM me with the information; as soon as he is arrested, you will get your reward in cash,” he stated.
The false report had sparked concern among fans and colleagues of the respected actor before it was debunked by his family.
