
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims during a military operation in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The rescue operation took place on Thursday after troops intercepted three suspected terrorists riding motorcycles in the area, according to security analyst Bakatsine in a post shared on X on Saturday.
Bakatsine said the suspects were transporting the victims from Kure village when they abandoned the captives and fled after sighting the advancing troops.
The rescued victims were identified as Usman, 24; Baba Usman, 56; Hassan, 22; Sunusi, 23; Abdullahi Yahaya, 28; and Sule, 15.
No arrests were reported, as the suspected kidnappers escaped during the operation.
Bakatsine praised the troops for their efforts, commending their courage, professionalism and continued commitment to counter-terrorism operations in the region.
