Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said he is ready to step down from the 2027 presidential race if a younger, vibrant and widely accepted candidate emerges under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Speaking in an interview with newsmen yesterday, Atiku stressed that his ambition is not driven by personal desire but by the need to provide Nigerians with a credible alternative to current leadership.
He dismissed claims of desperation for power, insisting that his only interest is rescuing the country from poor governance. Atiku urged younger Nigerians to become more active in politics, pledging his full support if a suitable youth candidate is chosen to run. “My being in the 2027 race does not prevent anyone from contesting. I am willing to step aside,”
